i haven't written any dream posts in some time...
last night, i don't remember any of the circumstances however the point of the dream was - a job will come when the time is right.
although i love staying home it's really is getting to me. the job market does seem to be opening up so i'm sending out more applications/resumes, but still minimal results. remember the interview? the following week i sent a followup email to the HR person & she said no decisions had been made but shortly thereafter i found the position listed again.
i went on another interview last week. the job description was mis-leading though, so during the HR interview everything i said i wanted was not what the job entailed. the interview with the hiring managers seemed ok, one hardly said anything besides "do you have any questions for us?" REPEATEDLY & the other one seemed uncomfortable speaking. anyways, it's a large company but working in a SMALL office & doing really basic office stuff so i hope they don't call me back unless it's for something else. i know that sounds bad coming from someone who's jonesing for a job, but i don't want to work somewhere that's going to drive me bonkers in 3 months.
oh wait, we were talking about dreams, darn tangents.....
last week i had 2 strange dreams, in the first one we (B & I) had a teenage daughter, she was pretty much Z with long hair & just as much attitude...possibly more. strike that, it was a nightmare not a dream.
the next day or so i dreamt that i woke up with grey/white hair. there were a few strands of brown in there, but i had to LOOK for them. it was ghastly! [yes, i do have dreams where i wake up, it's not unusual at all for me.]
then there's the crazy dream that actually occurred a few months ago but really stuck in my head [bc yes, it was that weird!] we had a dog, not sure if it was lady or not, but she was having puppies. the first one came out & we were holding it, looking at it, etc & not really paying attn to momma dog but kinda noticed that she was really working at birthing pup #2. some time passes before pup #2 arrives, only it's not a pup, it's a baby.
as in a human baby.
it was encased in some sort of embryonic sack that was very tight. i assumed, bc well, um, it was human & it's momma was a dog among other reasons, that it was stillborn, then i think i made a noise or something happened bc the baby opened it's eyes & looked directly at me. now, that sounds a little horror-movie-like, but in my dream i wanted that baby & there was no evilness.
i knew i had to open the sack so the baby could get oxygen. i grabbed at the film but there was no slack. i was pinching the baby's face through it trying to get a hold of some to rip it apart, then finally i was able get a little bit right between the eyes. i don't know if it was a boy or a girl, but i saved it.

visits
my hs buddies have been coming to visit us lately; it's been great, even though we don't do much.....we're so exciting over here, come hang out, watch some movies & eat with us!
i think the first time S came over we were in recovery mode, the next time she came over she came down with some extreme creeping crud & slept the entire time (poor thing) & the next trip M & baby came too!
fyi, Lady did not like squeaky little thing. ok, not that she didn't like her, just she didn't know what to do with such a thing that made noises like that.
for baby's 2nd birthday i crocheted pair of slippers for her, although they came out big & a hat with a ruffly edge. i chose a purple & green yarn which in hindsight i should have just used a plain simple pink or purple, the combo doesn't seem very little girl. oh well, next time! although those slippers will probably still fit next year!
now we're hoping to get a march birthday thing together, i'm excited & hope it works out.

friends & family
on friday M & S showed up, a nice surprise & definitely a good distraction to the current situation. we stayed up 1/2 the night watching jake ryan swoon, i mean 16 candles. we discovered Lady is camera shy, at least when S is holding the camera. thanks for coming to visit girls!!!

we hadn't made any plans for mother's day, before my dad situation i had been on the fence about what to do with my mom. we'd even thought about going away for the weekend to have a good excuse to escape the awkwardness, but instead nothing was planned or figured out, everything was just in limbo, waiting.
we ended up taking my mom out for lunch & spending a little bit of time at her place. B's still ultra sensitive in her presence while i'm kinda numb & in a fog about everything, but we all played nice & nobody ended up crying.
****************************
on tuesday i went to children's hospital to see cousin C & baby C. great news for baby C, he's doing so well the dr said they don't need to come back for 3 month - YAH!!! the procedure also went so smoothly that he was released from the hospital after just a few hours.
it was good to talk with cousin C; funny how similar our relationships are with our parents. we talked about the uncomfortable situations with our moms & our absent fathers.

easter 2010
i'd put off calling my mom all week; you know a holiday....most families get together, so i was at a loss at what to do....
do i invite? [only to be turned down]
do i not invite? [she's told me she doesn't want come over but i'm a b*tch if i don't at least offer right?]
woohoo, fun times alright!
i was off the hook though, she had a medical thing to prepare for & couldn't leave the house on sunday.
deep exhale [& feel the 400lb monkey fall off my back]
then when i explained to B that she wouldn't be over on sun for easter, but was coming over on mon after her dr appt it all went to hell again. [he has class all day]
good times...
seriously, can't win for losing sometimes.
then to top all that sh*t off, i was recovering from a migraine [why couldn't it have been a hangover?], so the easter bunny was late ok?
the confetti eggs were colored, but not confettied & obviously not topped & the potato salad was still just a thought nagging at the back of my head.
Z got to open his box from grandma C - lots of yellow grass, candy, camouflage eggs [?] & a science kit with polymers [water absorbing thingies]. my mom sent a card with some cash, thankfully she clued it $50 was a bit much & only gave him $10. then when i was able to, B & I filled plastic eggs & went out to the backyard to hide them.
then Z came out & caught us red handed.
i told him the easter bunny hid some of the eggs, but he was in a hurry & had to leave so he asked me to finish the rest of them. [wasn't that a good lie? i'm totally getting better!]
he totally didn't buy it, so i told him if he didn't go inside easter was canceled.
once we finished with the eggs i brought his basket inside & put the other things in there i bought for him & we went out for the hunt. Z was pissy about having to actually hunt for eggs, the best one was a yellow egg B had placed sitting on top of a tool with a yellow handle. it was really hard to see it & Z even moved the tool & it wasn't until the egg fell down that Z found the egg.
we didn't get to the confetti eggs until after dark, it was still fun, but so much more fun when there are other people around. the boys pretty much went after each other, then Z of course had to get Lady...any chance to mess with the dog!
easter dinner didn't happen.
we had tons of leftovers & it just didn't make sense to prepare everything.
glazed ham, potato salad & asparagus were had on tuesday afternoon though...we're professional procrastinators, novices need not apply!

bush whack phase II
um, there wasn't a post about phase i, deal with it, k?
phase i was me cleaning up the bushes along the back fence in an effort remove warm, comfy housing for the yard vermin. you remember them right?
so i cleaned up the bush bottoms, raked out all the leaves, B went on the other side of the fence & trimmed 4 years of growth...in some places our bushes were bigger on the wrong side of the fence!
we'd decided to leave the the bushes along the north fence as they were bc we were going to pull them out & plant some grass, that would give us an extra 2 feet or so of yard.
fast forward 6 months & them bushes are still there, still providing lots of breeding spots for said vermin. B's been totally busy with school, so i decided i could at least clean those bushes up a little bit, it would probably make it easier when we go to remove them right?
so i trim & rake, over & over & i'm finding all kinds of stuff in there. i found an old ball [that looked like it was from the 70s] & one of lady's orange-brown rope toys [ah her long lost friend]. then i stumbled across something that made me pause.
it was black & about 2-3 inches long. at first i thought it was a dead bird, but then i realized it was more fur-like than feather-like. at this point all sorts of obscenities are right at the tip of my tongue as i'm panicking & thinking it's dead rat/mouse/opossum creature.
then i figured out it was a piece of lady's baby.
note to self - from now on, lady's toys can only be bright-non-animal colored.
updated, i forgot to write about the part where i figured out why lady had a little pukage last week...i found leftover pieces of charcoal in the yard. one day last week B was going to grill, but the charcoal was wet & he left the lid off the grill, well girlfriend's been eating used charcoal to get the minute yet tasty drippings. anything to get people food...anything!

lady has a baby....not a real one!
Z has never really been in to stuffed animals much, although he's got quite a collection. i've tried thinning it out over the moves, but we still have a few items from the baby shower.....
one of the stuffed animals was a cute little dog; what makes it even cuter is it's colored just like Lady - black all over with tan paws. the other day Z decided he wanted to give that toy to Lady even though he knew she typically chews toys up within a matter of hours.
for some reason, we were wrong about this one though. she's had it for about a week now; she carries it around the yard & up to the top of the hill for some afternoon sun. beings she hasn't destroyed it & she even cleans it up, i let her bring it inside the house & we call it her baby. we'll even tell her "go get your baby" & she does!
it's darling.
i took a closer look at her baby though & i think she's had it with being a mom - the baby is missing an ear & it's little tail has been nibbled off!
update thurs pm - i came out of the bathroom & Lady's baby was in pieces, motherhood was not her high point.

sorry Lady
so Lady is more of an outdoor dog, unless it's really hot or cold out she prefers to be outside. well, her absolute preference it to have the door open so she can come & go as she pleases...country....i know. she likes to come inside & check on everyone & of course, the carpet is great for napping.
we often call her "Bird" [i'm not exactly sure how i came up with it, the only thing i can think of is on king of the hill, his dog is LadyBird] anywho, Bird is more fitting for her anyways, the dog is much closer to being a bird than she is to being a lady.
normally she sticks closer to B, but lately she's been following me around. the other night when B came to bed he heard snoring from my side of the bed. he knows that is really unlikely to be me & sure enough, he found her sleeping on the floor next to me.
last night i was really tired when i went to bed (the room was dark & i wasn't wearing my glasses) & when i walked into the bedroom my foot landed on something warm. no, take that back it was hot....and it had hair....but i was 1/2 asleep, so it took some time for me to even be concerned about the fact that it wasn't carpet.
oh, sorry Lady.
i must not have put very much weight on her because she hardly moved & didn't make a sound [or she was SOUND asleep], but she finally got up & i managed to get into bed. then i laid there & thought about M's story when she (also in the dark & sans glasses) kicked what she thought was a shirt left on the floor but ended up being the cat!!!!!!

now, i'm a lil scared
when the house was a rental, the first guy, when we came to do a walk through inspection nonchalantly mentioned he had rats. yeah, like it was no big deal whatsoever....
we hired an exterminator to set death traps & poison everywhere, had the front tree limbs all trimmed back away from the house & B installed extra seals along the garage. it took awhile but finally [because he'd waited until it was bad] the exterminator said all the meeces were gone.
our next renter, a really nice woman whom we hated to kick out [but hey i wasn't staying in the desert, so sorry....] contacted us right away when the rodents returned. although we maintained the exterminator company the entire time, the situation got worse before it got better, but it was taken care of. when she moved out she told us a meece had even jumped on her bed at night!!!!!!
so we know the meeces like this house & they tell their friends & extended family to come on over. in addition to that, the house behind us is vacant, which one wouldn't think much of however the neighbors have told us it's rat haven. [awesome....] it's so bad they've contacted the leinholder [yup, it's in foreclosure] & requested they do something about the meeces. you know what that means right? if the leinholder does eradicate the meeces from that house, guess where they're gonna go?
ok, that's not even the worse part, a few days ago, in an effort to be proactive we bought some poison blocks & threw them in the green belt behind the back fence. i made sure they were all far enough away that they could not be reached by little Z arms or by curious dog. [trust me she was curious, she thought i was throwing treats] then yesterday we found evidence that Lady [the dog] had eaten the poison!!!!!!
yup, turquoise poop.
she never showed any signs whatsoever, so apparently it wasn't enough to hurt her, but WTF???? there is absolutely no way any piece of poison could have been reached from this side of the yard, so the only thing we can guess is.....it was brought back!!!! did the meeces declare war & in retaliation they're taking out the dog?
